I love pumpkin season! It’s my favorite season… the color, the texture, the smell and of course the taste!
Last night I had a Q& A with several of my team leaders and wanted a small cup of coffee to give me some energy! However I really wanted it to be pumpkin coffee. But considering we have been eating clean and limiting our processed foods and sugar intake, I decided to make my own spice to add to my coffee.
Side note- The coffee I purchase is called “One more cup coffee”, purchase it from a farm north of Boston.
What I love about the coffee is that each purchase of a pound of coffee goes to help neighbors of the farm have a meal that they would not be able to afford. I truly believe that purchasing goods that help others is truly the way to go.
This evening I did not have pumpkin pie spice, so I made a fresh batch using spices in my pantry
Ingredients
3 Tablespoons Ground Cinnamon
2 teaspoons Ground Ginger
2 teaspoons Nutmeg
1-1/2 teaspoon Ground Allspice
1-1/2 teaspoon Ground Cloves
Instructions
In a small bowl, whisk together cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, allspice, and cloves until well combined. Store in a small jar or container.
I added 1 1/2 teaspoons of spice to my coffee before brewing! It was delicious!!
Making the spice in small batches really helps keep its fresh flavor.
You can use this spice for pies, cookies, cakes, breads, muffins, coffee– as you know the list can go on and on.... and on!
